An information management system (IMS) content package consists of files packaged according to an agreed standard of data representation for reuse in different data and information management systems (e.g., IMS, LMS), without the need to convert the material into new formats.
IMS content packages can be uploaded as a ZIP file by the IMS content package module and added to an LMS course (e.g. Moodle course) as a resource. The IMS content package in Moodle provides various options for displaying content based on a navigation menu or buttons etc. Two relevant usages of IMS content packages are the presentation of multimedia content and animations.
