Learning and teaching with drones (dronagogy)

Area

Level

Learning and teaching with drones could help teachers to provide scaffolding to learners and open new possibilities of observation, measurement, and experimentation. Drones offer opportunities but also challenges for teachers. With drones supporting teaching, human teachers will need to reflect and adjust their capabilities and roles to maximise the benefits while minimising the detriments of learning and teaching with drones. Human teachers will need training to use drones (in and) outside the classroom. (For example, learning with drones is being used to support fieldwork by enhancing students’ capability to explore outdoor physical environments.) This should be informed by research on pedagogies including drone technologies and applications (dronagogy).
