This approach is appropriate for heterogeneous groups where students have different prior knowledge and experience. The more advanced students in some areas can get more engaged, bring their own experience and feature as ‘student tutor’ for the peers.
Note for educators:
- Choose some topics of your subject matter and give them as an assignment only to those students who already have deeper knowledge or experience of the topic.
- The students – student tutors – present the content to their colleagues or in small groups. Depending on their own expertise the student tutor can also provide more explanation for the peers if needed.
