Students can be made aware and committed to a responsible use of the online course material and procedures by having them to confirm a set of statements. This can be implemented in an engaging way. For example, at the beginning of an online study unit, students can be asked to answer a set of multiple choice questions (created by H5P) or in a gaming format before they can proceed on the course.
The rules can be called differently, such as “Ground rules for Course XYZ” or “Code of conduct for online learning and safety”. Topics included in these online rules and policies can be manifold, depending on the institution. See exemplary attachments.
