Selecting OER implies judging whether a certain OER is suitable for use within a specific teaching and learning context.
Teachers can select OER based on the same standards they use to evaluate other course materials. Evaluation areas may include, for instance, content, accessibility, quality and format. Furthermore, personalised criteria and indicators that meet the learning outcomes can also be considered, i.e. if it promotes: cultural awareness and sensitivity, acceptance and respect for others’ opinions, self-reflection and self-assessment, etc.
In any case, it is important to identify if the OER are open-licensed and freely sharable, reusable and/or remixable the content, given that it will condition its use.
