Support in hybrid/HyFlex settings

In hybrid and HyFlex setting additional organisational requirements have to be taken into account. It is very useful to have support from teaching assistant/ co-instructor or instructional technologists.

This support include:

  • Helping the instructor test equipment and software ahead of class.
  • Monitoring a live chat session. Assisting remote students and if necessary, offering them help when needed.
  • Setting up breakout rooms and visiting them during small group activities, to ensure that remote students are clear about what to do, to answer questions, or to gather feedback to share with the instructor.
  • Controlling / moving cameras, if the educator moves around the physical classroom, the supporting person can zoom or follow with camera. Also, assistive cameras (following the speaker movements) can be used.
