In contrast to the traditional one-size-fits-all approach to education, personalised learning aims at addressing the learners’ needs and capitalising each learner’s strengths, skills, and interests. In particular when we have a class with learners who learn at a very different pace, it is advantageous to have flexible learning plans. Personalised learning approaches are important to flexibilise learning plans when different learners of learning groups learn at different paces.
Digital technology can be used to leverage and boost the learners learning pace, for instance, by including multimodal (open educational) resources that tackle the learning topics from different perspectives and approach the themes with a more granular conceptual depth. Thus, learners can explore the resources beforehand according to their own learning profile and readiness.
